The Moron Rooster

a bronze sculpture of the outstanding sculptress's Rita Longa with the artistic collaboration of Armando's Alonso. The art work: a rooster of it peels with their sharp spurs and ready to enter in combat talks about the characteristics of the Morón residents. The monument has an amplification device that expands for the city the typical song of the animal at certain hours of the day, element that cooperates to the establishment of the local identity.

The Rooster of Moron summarizes without doubts all the to feel of ownership of a rich town for his history and with a cultural solid tradition, a symbol that translates the spirit of fight of this town in defense of his sovereignty.

Trail of Júcaro to Moron

Considered one of the military most important monuments in the region of Caribbean and the Spanish biggest fortification in the XIX century in the island of Cuba and Latin America. Its construction, carried out between 1871 and 1872, had as very precise objective to cut the step of the Army Cuban Liberator in its advance toward the western portion of the country and to avoid the expansion from the war to those territories. The General Blas Villate de la  Hera, count of Valmaseda, proposed the idea to the Secretary of Overseas of the Spanish Crown, the construction of a trail or fortified line from the port of Júcaro, in the south coast to the town of Morón in the north coast of the territory.

The Lagoon of the Milk

With 66 surface km² is the biggest body in natural water of Cuba it is located to some 3 kms of the city of Morón. It is a natural refuge of rosy flamingos and other species of aquatic birds.  The Aquatic Carnival that is carried out once a year and a formidable scenario to take a cruise in a sailboat.

Small Lake "La Redonda"

Has 4.5 km² of natural channels. It is characterized by the abundance of trouts in their waters and it is the headquarters of the Fishing International Centre of that species.

The Hill of Cunagua

Is a Refuge of the Fauna with a surface of 2,742ha you can access from the highway of Moron, there are several and interesting interpretive paths.

Municipal Museum of Moron

municipal museum Caonabo, was the first been founded in the current Ciego de Avila province in November 30th of 1981. The Room of Archaeology exposes important objects of the cultures of Center America and of Caribbean. The Room of History of the Culture of Morón, embraces a wide range of thematic, beginning with objects linked with the colonial period, the Wars of Independence, the cultural traditions, the medicine; the neocolonial republic, the fight against the Fulgencio Batista’s dictatorship and the mercenary invasion at Girón Beach.

Aquatic Carnival of Moron

The aquatic carnival is carried out every year in the months of July or August, in an area of the Lagoon of the Milk. It has it’s origins to the half  of the 50’s and it was rescued in 1983, it consists on a parade of coaches ships, brilliantly decked out that they cross the whole long channel of the pier, with an expectation of people's thousands located from early hours in the margins of the channel. At the same time, several recreational activities take place standing out the giant paella of more than 1000 portions, exquisite plate for their high content in chicken, pig meat, ham, fish and shellfish.

The Catholic Church

It is without doubts, an exponent of special significance for the city. Built in 1863 using bricks, it has resisted the step of the time and the warlike wars. It was, in times of the Wars of Independence of the 1868 and of the 1895, barracks of the Spanish forces quartered in the population that was to its an it pierces military important to be one of the ends of the Trail from Júcaro to Moron; in their walls the loopholes can still be observed that were open to be able to defend the square of the attacks of the Cuban army and the tower with crenels built with similar purpose. The journey Florence

A rural small town of the northwest of Ciego de Avila province, gives access to the foothills of Sierra of Jatibonico. Is a horse ride journey and has a longitude of 7.5 km.
